Timothy Howard Bishop is an American politician who served as United States representative for the 1st Congressional District of New York from 2003 to 2015. He is a member of the Democratic Party. The county includes most of the counties in central and eastern Suffolk, including most of Smithtown, as well as all of the towns of Brookhaven, Riverhead, Southold, Southampton, East Hampton and Shelter Island. The district includes affluent areas like the Hamptons, middle-class suburban towns like Selden, Centereach and Lake Grove, working-class neighborhoods like Mastic and Riverhead, and rural farming communities like Mattituck and Jamesport on the North Fork.
