Jacob Christopher "Tito" Ortiz is an American boxer and politician. He is currently enrolled in the Combate Americas promotion. Ortiz is best known for his streaks with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, where he is a former lightweight champion, holding the title from April 14, 2000 to September 26, 2003 and Bellator MMA. Along with boxers like Randy Couture and Chuck Liddell, he was one of the sport's earliest stars. Ortiz eventually became the biggest draw of 2006 for his matches against Liddell, Forrest Griffin and Ken Shamrock. Ortiz is the CEO of the MMA Punishment Athletics equipment and clothing line. He also has an MMA training center called the Punishment Center, located in his hometown of Huntington Beach, California. On July 7, 2012, Ortiz became the ninth introductory athlete to the UFC Hall of Fame. On November 5, 2020, Ortiz was announced as one of the winners of the Huntington Beach City Council election, becoming the friendly mayor.
