Harold Vivian "Toby" Murray is a player from the New Zealand rugby league. Primarily a winger, Murray represented Canterbury at the provincial level and was a member of the New Zealand national team, All Blacks, in 1913 and 1914. He has played 22 games for the All Blacks, including 4 international players, scoring 12 attempts in all. Murray joined the New Zealand Expeditionary Force in August 1916 and served in Task Force 21, Machine Gun Division. He intervened in France and received a shrapnel in his right thigh in April 1918. After the war ended, Murray played three games for the New Zealand service team at the King's Cup in 1919. During During World War II, Murray was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in the National Self-Defense Forces in 1941, and entered the Reserve Officer Force in early 1944
