Thomas Jacob Hilfiger is an American fashion designer and founder of Tommy Hilfiger Group. After starting his career co-founding a fashion / jeans chain called People's Place in upstate New York in the 1970s, he began designing preppy clothing for the same clothing line for men in the 1980s. Subsequently, the company expanded into women's clothing. and various luxury items such as perfumes and made its public debut in 1992.
