Harold Watson "Trey" Gowdy III is an American television personality, former politician and former federal prosecutor who served as the United States representative for the District 4 of the South Carolina Congress from 2011 to 2019. His county covers much of the suburbs of South Carolina, including Greenville and Spartanburg. Before serving as congress, Gowdy served as a federal prosecutor in South Carolina County from 1994 to 2000, then as attorney for South Carolina's Seventh Judicial District, which includes Spartanburg and Cherokee counties, from 2000 to 2010. From 2014 to 2016, Gowdy chaired the US House of Representatives Selection Committee on Events surrounding the 2012 Benghazi Terrorist attack, which was partially responsible for delivering shows the existence of Hillary Clinton's private mail server.
