A turbocharger, more commonly known as a turbine, is a turbine-driven forced induction device that increases the power of an internal combustion engine by introducing more compressed air into the combustion chamber. This improvement in the capacity of naturally aspirated engines is due to the fact that compressors are able to bring more air - and therefore more fuel - into the combustion chamber than atmospheric pressure. Manufacturers often use turbochargers in the engines of trucks, cars, trains, airplanes, and construction equipment. They are commonly used with the Otto cycle internal combustion engine and the diesel cycle combustion engine.
