Vice Admiral Vijay Shankar, PVSM, AVSM is a retired Indian Naval Admiral, former CINCAN and Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces Command. His previous orders include as commander of the Western Fleet Flag Officer. He was also the Commander-in-Chief of INS Viraat, INS Ganga, INS Himgiri and INS Panaji. Vice-Admiral Shankar retired on September 30, 2009. Since then, he has served as Admiral Katari's Chairman of the United Service Institute.
