Vasilica Viorica Dăncilă is a Romanian politician, former leader of the Social Democratic Party and Prime Minister of Romania from January 29, 2018 to November 4, 2019. She was the first woman in Romanian history. Responsible for both the Prime Minister and President positions of PSD. In 2014, she was elected Member of the European Parliament for the second term of the PSD. Viorica Dăncilă was also president of the Social Democratic Women's Organization from 2015 to 2018. Viorica Dăncilă became a member of the Social Democratic Party in 1996, being part of the PSD organization in Teleorman County. Over the years, she has held many positions in the PSD and local government. Viorica Dăncilă was local councilor and district councilor until 2009, when she was elected MEP for her first term. In addition, Viorica Dăncilă has held various leadership positions in the party, such as the president of the local organization, PSD vice president Teleorman and president OFSD Teleorman.
