Best known for his roles in My Dinner with Andre and The Princess Bride, he is a comedic actor and writer. He wrote Aunt Dan and Lemon and The Designated Mourner as plays. In the Toy Story series, he also voiced the character Rex.

Wallace Michael Shawn is an American actor, vocal artist, comedian, playwright, and essayist. His film roles include Wally Shawn in the television series My Dinner with Andre, directed by Louis Malle, Vizzini in The Princess Bride, Mr. James Hall in Clueless and voicing Rex in the Toy Story series. He also had six roles in Woody Allen films. His television productions include recurring roles like Jeff Engles in The Cosby Show, Grand Nagus Zek in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Cyrus Rose in Gossip Girl and Dr. John Sturgis in Young Sheldon. Her plays include Obie Award winner Aunt Dan and Chanh, The Nominated Wife, and Colored Weed. He also co-wrote the screenplay for My Dinner with Andre with Andre Gregory and wrote the screenplay for A Master Builder, an adaptation of the play by Henrik Ibsen in which he also starred. His book was published in 2009 by Haymarket Books.
