William Hall Macy Jr. is an American actor and director. His film career was built on appearances in small indie films, although he also appeared in action movies. Macy describes himself as "some sort of Central American guy, WASPy, Lutheran ... Everyman". Macy has won two Emmy Awards and four Screen Actors Guild Awards, as well as an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for her performance in Fargo. From 2011 to 2021, he played the role of Frank Gallagher, the main character in the film adaptation of the British TV series Showtime Shameless. Macy has been married to Felicity Huffman since 1997 .
