William "Bill" Shatner is a Canadian actor, writer, producer, director, screenwriter and singer. During his seven decades as an actor, he became a cultural icon with the role of Captain James T. Kirk of the USS Enterprise in the Star Trek series. As of 2015, William Shatner is one of the remaining cast in the original Star Trek franchise, alongside Nichelle Nichols, George Takei, and Walter Koenig. He has written a series of books documenting his experience playing Captain Kirk, being part of Star Trek and life after Star Trek. Shatner has also co-authored several novels set in the Star Trek universe, and a sci-fi novel series called TekWar has been adapted for television. Shatner also played the role of the veteran police sergeant of the same name in T. J. Hooker and hosted the 911 Rescue reality show, which won an audience award for the newly loved drama.
