This Dutch daredevil rose to popularity for his extraordinary ability to endure sub-zero temperatures by what both he and a 2011 scientific study claimed was mental modulation of his body's internal temperature. He is best known for his 2011 book Becoming the Iceman (co-written with Justin Rosales).

Wim Hof before fame

He set a Guinness World Record in 2008 by wrapping his entire body in ice for one hour and fourteen minutes. He broke his own record three years later, staying in a tank of ice for one hour and fifty-three minutes.

Achievement of Wim Hof

He ran a marathon in minus four degrees (Fahrenheit) and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Everest while wearing only shorts. He developed the Innerfire organization to educate others his mind-over-body physical management techniques. He is an entrepreneur as well as an adventurer.

He grew up in Sittard, Netherlands, with his eight siblings. He had a total of five children from his two marriages.
