7'6" center who was selected first overall in the NBA Draft in 2002. He was an NBA All-Star in each of his eight seasons with the Houston Rockets before being forced to retire in 2011 due to a series of foot and ankle ailments.

Yao Ming is a Chinese basketball operator and former professional football player. He played for the Shanghai Sharks of the China Basketball Association and the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association. Yao has been selected eight times to compete at the NBA All-Star Game Western Conference, and has been on the All-NBA team five times. Last season, he was the most active player in the NBA, with 2.29m. He is the only player from outside the United States to lead the NBA in All-Star votes. Yao, who was born in Shanghai, started playing for the Shanghai Sharks as a teenager and played for their senior team for five years in the Chinese Basketball Association, winning the championship in his senior year. After negotiating with the CBA and the Sharks for release, Yao was selected by the Houston Rockets as his first choice in NBA Draft 2002.
