Yuvan Shankar Raja is an Indian composer, singer and songwriter. He mainly records music for Tamil movies. Considered a versatile composer, he is particularly well known for his use of elements of Western music and is often credited with introducing hip hop into the Tamil film and music industry, at the same time initiated the "era of remixes" in Tamil Nadu. Yuvan has won two Filmfare awards, five Mirchi Music awards, four Vijay awards and three Tamil Nadu state cinema awards. His remarkable works earned him the honorary nickname "Symbol of Youth". Over a period of 23 years, Yuvan has made more than 100 films. As the youngest son of legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja, he began his musical career in 1996, at the age of 16, when he composed music for the film Aravindhan. He made a breakthrough with Thulluvadho Ilamai's soundtrack and established himself as one of the most sought-after composers in Tamil cinema in the mid-2000s
