Zemgus Girgensons, nicknamed "The Latvian Powerhouse", is a Latvian professional ice hockey center who currently plays for the National Hockey League's Buffalo Sabers team. He was selected 14th in the Buffalo Sabers NHL Draft 2012 competition. With this choice, the Girgensons became the best drafted Latvian in NHL history, 16 places higher than the previous highest selection, Sandis Ozoliņš, in 1991. Last year, the Girgensons were selected for the second, 28th final, in the youth discussion of the 2011 Kontinental Hockey Championship hosted by CSKA Moscow.
