He is known for his roles as Victor in Smoke Signal, Frank Fencepost in Dance Me Outside, Tommy in Walker, Texas Ranger, Kickin 'Wing in Joe Dirt, American Corporal Ira Hayes in Flags of Our Fathers, Private Ben Yahzee in Windtalkers , Dr. Charles Eastman in Burying My Heart in an Injured Knee, Detective Chester Lake in NYPD Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Officer Jim Chee in the transition films of Skinwalkers, Coyote Waits and A Thief of Time. He starred in the 2012-2014 Canadian Arctic Air series and played Slipknot in the 2016 film Suicide Squad. He also played Squanto in the historic Disney film Squanto: A Warrior's Tale. Most recently, he starred in Hostiles as Black Hawk and in the original Netflix movie Juanita as Jess Gardiner.
