In 2016, he joined the Vancouver Whitecaps FC of the Major League Soccer (MLS). He was a member of Canada's youth national teams at the U-17 and U-20 levels before joining the senior national squad in 2017. In January of 2019, he signed a contract with Bayern Munich.
