After serving as a Member of Parliamentfor the Saint Andrew West Central constituency and subsequently holding office as his country's Minister of Education, this Labour Party politician was elected ninth Prime Minister of Jamaica.
Andrew Michael Holness is a Jamaican politician who has served as Prime Minister of Jamaica since March 3, 2016, following the 2016 general election in Jamaica. Holness was Prime Minister from October 2011 until January 5, 2012. He succeeded Bruce Golding as Prime Minister and decided to vote in the general election of December 29, 2011 in an attempt to win his own term among Jamaican voters. However, he failed in this effort, losing to the National People's Party led by Portia Simpson-Miller, while the PNP won 42 seats for the Jamaican Labor Party 21. After this failure, Holness took the lead. Opposition from January 2012 to March 2016, when he took over the post of Prime Minister. In 2020 the Labor Party won another general election and on September 7 Holness was sworn in as Prime Minister for another term. Holness is the youngest person elected and re-elected Prime Minister in Jamaican history.
