William James Murray is an American actor, comedian and writer. Known for his poor delivery ability, he became famous for Saturday Night Live, a series of performances that earned him his first Emmy, then starring in comedies like Meatballs. , Caddyshack, Stripes, Tootsie, Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters II, What About Bob? , Groundhog Day and Kingpin. His only director credit is Quick Change, which he co-directed with Howard Franklin. Murray went on to star in Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation, which earned him the Golden Globe and British Academy Film Awards, as well as an Oscar nomination for Best Actor. He also regularly collaborates with directors Wes Anderson and Jim Jarmusch.
