Robert Upshur Woodward is an American investigative journalist. He started working for the Washington Post as a reporter in 1971 and is currently serving as Deputy Editor-in-Chief. As a young Washington Post reporter in 1972, Woodward collaborated with Carl Bernstein; Both did most of the early reporting on the Watergate scandal. These scandals led to numerous government queries and ultimately President Richard Nixon's resignation. Woodward and Bernstein's work has been called "perhaps the greatest reporting effort of all time" by longtime journalist Gene Roberts. Woodward continued to work for the Washington Post after reporting on Watergate. Since then, he has written 19 books on American politics, 13 of which topped the bestseller list.
