Dakota Mayi Johnson is an American actress and model. The daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, she made her film debut at the age of 10 with a minor role in Crazy in Alabama, a black comedy starring her mother. Johnson discouraged her acting career until she graduated from high school, then she started auditioning in Los Angeles. She was cast for a small role on The Social Network, then starred in the comedy 21 Jump Street, the indie comedy Goats, and the romantic comedy The Five-Year Engagement. In 2015, Johnson had her first starring role as Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades franchise. For her performance in the series, she received a BAFTA Rising Star Award nomination in 2016. Following Fifty Shades, Johnson appeared in the biopic crime film Black Mass, the drama Bigger Splash by A Luca Guadagnino and the romantic comedy How to Be Single.
