David Oyetokunbo Oyelowo is a British and American actor and producer. His most famous role to date is Martin Luther King Jr. in the biographical TV series Selma in 2014. He also starred in A United Kingdom and played a chess coach role in Queen of Katwe. He has played supporting roles in the films Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Lincoln, Red Tails, Jack Reacher and received praise for playing Louis Gaines in The Butler. On television, he played the role of MI5 officer Danny Hunter in the TV series Spooks and Javert in the BBC miniseries Les Miserables.
