Irish former hurler who was known as one of the best goalkeepers in the world during his two decade-long career with for Clare and Sixmilebridge. Later in life, he became a successful hurling manager, leading Clare to the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final in 2013.

David Dermot Fitzgerald is an Irish hurdles coach and former player who currently leads the Wexford senior hurdles team. As a player, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers of his generation. Fitzgerald started his club-level obstacle course career with Sixmilebridge. He made his debut in the club's top adult team at the age of 17 in 1989 and witnessed his greatest success in 1996 when Sixmilebridge won the club's all-Irish club championship. Fitzgerald's club career ended in 2011, when he also won two Munster Club Championship titles and six Clare Senior Championship titles. At the interdistrict level, Fitzgerald was part of the small Clare team that won the Munster championship in 1989 before joining the Clare Under-21 team. He joined Clare's senior team in 1990
