Dawnn Jewel Lewis is an American actress, singer, voice actress and musician. Lewis is best known for her role as Jaleesa Vinson-Taylor in the NBC sitcom A Different World which ran from 1987 until the end of season five in 1992, in addition to participating in the show; Lewis co-wrote the theme song. Other notable roles for Lewis include Robin Dumars in the ABC Hangin 'sitcom with Mr. Cooper in its first season and as Cheryl Spade in the 1988 film I'm Gonna Git You Sucka. Since then, Lewis has appeared in many television dramas, including other sitcoms, and has also performed on stage.
