Emily Kathleen Anne Mortimer is an Anglo-American actress and screenwriter. She began acting in theatrical productions and has since performed in a number of film and television roles. In 2003, she won the Independent Spirit Award for her performance in Lovely and Amazing. She is also known for her role as Mackenzie McHale in the HBO The Newsroom series and as the actress who voices Sophie in the English version of Howl's Moving Castle. Mortimer also starred in Scream 3, Match Point, The Pink Panther and its 2009 sequel, Lars and the Real Girl, Chaos Theory, Harry Brown, Shutter Island, Hugo, Mary Poppins Returns, and Relic.
