Syed Emraan Anwar Hashmi is an Indian film actor who appears in Hindi films. Known for his daring scenes, Hashmi has since taken on strong roles in films. As one of India's most unique actors, Hashmi has received three Filmfare Award nominations. He worked as an assistant director for the 2002 horror film Raaz before pursuing an acting career. By 2004, Hashmi had become one of the main actors in Hindi cinema with roles in several successful horror films including Murder, Zeher, Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Kalyug, Aksar and Gangster. However, he followed in his footsteps with roles in low-performing films at the box office before starring in the popular action movie Awarapan. The year 2008 marked a turning point for Hashmi, when he played the role of a con man in the crime movie Jannat.
