Eric Jeremy Edgar Dier is an English professional footballer who plays for Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur and the England national team. As a versatile defensive player, Dier has been positioned in defensive midfield, center-back and right-back. Dier grew up in Portugal, where he rose through the youth levels at Sporting CP, making his reserve and senior debut in 2012 after loaning to Everton. In 2014 he moved to Tottenham Hotspur on a five-year contract worth £ 4million. He has made more than 200 appearances for Tottenham, most notably in the 2015 Confederation Cup final and the 2019 UEFA Champions League final. Despite Portugal's interest, Dier chose to represent the England in the international football tournament. He made his senior debut in November 2015 and was selected for UEFA Euro 2016 and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
