Fabrice Ndala Muamba is a retired English professional footballer who played for Arsenal, Birmingham City and Bolton Wanderers in central midfielder. Born in Zaire, Muamba moved to England when he was 11, then played for England when he was under 21. Muamba started his career in 2002, joining Arsenal's youth academy. After three years he turned professional in 2005. He made his League Cup debut for Arsenal, but only played one other professional game for the club. After a stint on loan with Birmingham City, he moved out for good in 2007. He stayed at Birmingham City for another year, and left after more than 70 appearances and made his England debut at under 21 wearing a football team jersey. He joined Bolton Wanderers in 2008. In March 2012, Muamba suffered cardiac arrest during a televised FA Cup match between Bolton and Tottenham Hotspur, after which he recovered from a 78-minute cardiac arrest.
