He is the guitarist and co-founder of the alternative rock band Smashing Pumpkins, as well as a member of the supergroup Tinted Windows. He is also a part of A Perfect Circle.
James Yoshinobu Iha is an American rock musician. He is best known as the guitarist and co-founder of alternative rock band Smashing Pumpkins. He was a member until its first disbandment in 2000. From his musical endeavors in recent years, Iha is a permanent member of A Perfect Circle. Most recently, he was a member of Tinted Windows, a group inspired in the 1960s-1970s with members of Cheap Trick, Fountains of Wayne and Hanson. He joined Smashing Pumpkins in 2018. Iha has produced songs, contributed guitar and vocals, and produced remixes for a number of artists, including Midnight Movies, Isobel Campbell, Marilyn Manson, Whiskeytown and Michael Stipe. He is co-owner of Scratchie Records, an independent record company, with Adam Schlesinger, and from 1999 to 2012 owned a recording studio with Schlesinger and Ivy Andy Chase named Stratosphere Sound.
