Ednel Javier Báez, nicknamed "El Mago", is a professional Puerto Rican baseball player for the Chicago Cubs Major League baseball team. Born in Puerto Rico, Báez attended high school in Jacksonville, Florida. The Cubs chose Báez with his ninth overall choice in Draft MLB 2011. He made his MLB debut in 2014. Báez was named as co-MVP of the National League Championship Series alongside a left-handed initiator. Jon Lester as the Chicago Cubs won their 2016 National League pennant en route to the 2016 World Series championship. He's two-time All-Star and has also won the Silver Slugger. He is also a cover athlete for MLB The Show 20 .
