Harpist and vocalist who gained fame for the song"Bridges and Balloons" from her 2004 album The Milk-Eyed Mender. She has performed as an actress in Portlandia episodes.

Joanna Caroline Newsom is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and actress. Born in northern California, Newsom trained on the harp at a young age and began his musical career as a keyboardist in the independent San Francisco-based band The Pleased. After recording and self-releasing two EPs in 2002, Newsom signed with independent label Drag City. Her debut album, The Milk-Eyed Mender, was released in 2004 and received critical acclaim and drew underground Newsom followers. She will be more widely known for the release of Ys, ranked No. 134 on the Billboard 200, and nominated for the 2007 Shortlist Music Awards. She has released two more albums: Have One on Me and Linh, his second album surpassed all of his previous albums. Newsom has gained critics' attention for her unique musical style, sometimes referred to as psychedelic folk, and her ability to use a prominent harp instrument.
