Jon Scieszka is an American children's writer best known for his picture books created with illustrator Lane Smith. He is also a nationally recognized reading advocate and founder of Guys Read - an online literacy program for boys with the mission of "helping boys become motivated. and lifelong reading ". Scieszka is the first US National Ambassador for Children's Literature, appointed by the Librarian of Congress during the 2008 and 2009 calendar years. His film Time Warp Trio, which teaches history to children, has been adapted into a television show.
