About Julian de Guzman

Former defensive midfielder who joined the Ottawa Fury as an assistant coach. He debuted for Canada's national team in 2002; he has also played for Hannover 96, Deportivo La Coruña, Toronto FC and Ottawa Fury, among others.

Julian Bobby de Guzman is Canadian football executive, former player and professional coach. De Guzman was the first Canadian to play in La Liga Spain. While playing in Spain, he was voted Deportivo La Coruña's 2007-08 Player of the Year. De Guzman played at the Canadian U-20 and senior levels, he received the Canadian Player of the Year award in 2008 and in 2007 he became the second Canadian player to receive the CONCACAF Gold Cup. He is currently the all-time leader of the Canadian national team, a record he has held since November 2015, surpassing Paul Stalteri's previous record of 84 appearances. From 2013 to 2016, he was captain of Canada's National Men's Team. Most recently, De Guzman was General Manager of Ottawa Fury FC from 2017 until disbanded at the end of 2019 .
