Mika Pauli Häkkinen, nicknamed "The Flying Finn", is a former Finnish racer. He was the one-year formula world champion in 1998 and 1999, driving McLaren. Häkkinen is one of only three Formula 1 drivers from Finland to have won the world championship, and is the only Finnish driver in history to have won it multiple times. Häkkinen currently works in the field of driver management and is a brand ambassador for various companies. Häkkinen started his sailing career at the age of 5 and achieved success by winning regional and national sailing championships. He started racing while participating in Formula Ford and Formula 3 racing in Italy and UK. After his success in the series, Häkkinen joined Formula 1 in 1991 with Team Lotus, where he remained until 1992. The following year he joined McLaren as a test driver before being promoted to team after the departure of Michael Andretti.
