Michael Anthony Vitar is a former American actor and firefighter who played Benjamin Franklin "Benny the Jet" Rodriguez in The Sandlot and Luis Mendoza in the two most recent Mighty Ducks films. He started acting at the age of 12 when a casting director discovered him online by hitchhiking at the school's makeup festival. He retired from acting after 1997. He has two siblings. His brother, Pablo, played the old version of his character, Benny, in The Sandlot, then he joined the Los Angeles Police Department in 1996. Pablo died of colon cancer on January 29. 2008. He also has an older sister, Elizabeth. He attended St. John's High School. Francis is from La Cañada, California, since then he graduated in 1997. In 1996, he worked for Gerber Ambulance in Torrance as a springboard in the EMS field to begin his current career as a firefighter. Since 2002, he has been a firefighter for the Los Angeles Fire Department. He currently lives in Los Angeles.
