Physical defensive midfielder who debuted for Ajax in 2002 and was called up to the Dutch national team in 2004.

Nigel de Jong is a Dutch professional soccer player who plays as a defensive midfielder for Qatar Stars League club Al-Shahania. De Jong joined Ajax's youth academy as a young player and went through the ranks to make it to the first team at 17. Two years later, he made his international debut and made 81 appearances for the team between 2004 and 2015, scoring one goal. He has played two European championships and two FIFA World Cup titles with the Netherlands, winning a medal for the 2010 World Cup final and a bronze medal at the 2014 World Cup. De Jong left Ajax in 2006 to join Hamburg in search of a starting place, then moved to Manchester City in January 2009 for an estimated £ 18million, where he became a key player in the Midfielder.
