Nihal Sarin is an Indian chess player. Prodigy of chess, he gained the title of Grandmaster at the age of 14. He is also the fourth youngest player in history to surpass the Elo 2,600 index, achieving this feat at the age of 14. Nihal won the gold medal as a member of the Indian team at the FIDE 2020 Chess Olympics online. He won the U-18 youth world championship held online in a fast format in 2020. In 2019, at the age of 15, Nihal became the youngest Indian to play at the 2019 World Cup in which he reached into round two. Nihal is the 2014 World Championship for Under 10s in Durban, South Africa. In 2015, he took first place at the Under-12 World Championship in Porto Carras, Greece, winning a silver medal in tie.
