Randolph Peter Best was an English musician known as The Beatles' drummer before the band gained worldwide fame. After being fired from the group in 1962, he formed his own group, the Pete Best Four, and then joined many other groups for many years. He's one of the many who has been called The Beatle Thursday. Best's mother, Mona Best, opened the Casbah Coffee Club in the Bests' cellar in Liverpool. The Beatles played some of their first gigs at the club. The Beatles invited Best to join the group on August 12, 1960, on the eve of their first concert season in Hamburg. Ringo Starr eventually replaced Best on August 16, 1962, when group manager Brian Epstein fired Best on the orders of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison after the group's first recording session.
