Richard Joseph Gannon is a former midfielder of American football who has played eighteen seasons in the National Football Federation. After that, he was a sports commentator for CBS Sports for 16 seasons. Gannon was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and played college football at the University of Delaware, where he led coach Tubby Raymond's Wing-T attack. He scored at least 2,000 attacking yards in three consecutive seasons in Delaware and was Yankee Conference's attacking player of the year as a senior. In the 1987 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots selected Gannon in the fourth round with the intention of converting Gannon to run again. He was quickly traded for the Minnesota Vikings and would play with the Vikings until 1992. Gannon began his career as a reserve for Wade Wilson. Gannon started his first match in 1990 to save injured Wilson and will begin multiplayer games in 1991.
