Samuel Michael Vokes is a professional footballer who plays as a striker for Championship club Stoke City and the Welsh national team. Vokes started his professional career at AFC Bournemouth in League One, making his debut in 2006. His form there helped him move on to the Wolverhampton Wanderers side of the championship, where he helped them win the title. During his four seasons with Wolves, he played only 59 games, spending time on loan at six other clubs. In 2012, he moved to Burnley, where he made 258 appearances and scored 62 goals, twice winning promotion to the Premier League. He signed for Stoke in January 2019. He became a full-fledged member of the Welsh national team, which he also represented at U21 level. Born and raised in England, Vokes qualified to represent Wales through a grandfather born there. He has made over 60 caps since his debut in 2008 and is part of the squad that reached the semi-finals of UEFA Euro 2016
