About Yan Gomes

Brazilian catcher who debuted in the Major League Baseball with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2012 and later played for the Cleveland Indians from 2013 to 2018. In 2014, he received his first Silver Slugger Award. He helped the Indians get to the World Series in 2016, and he won the World Series with the Washington Nationals in 2019.

Yan Gomes is a Brazilian-American professional baseball catcher for the Washington National Baseball League Baseball Team. Previously he played at MLB for the Toronto Blue Jays and Cleveland Indians. Blue Jays called Gomes in the 10th round of MLB Draft 2009. He made his MLB debut in 2012, becoming the first Brazilian player in major tournament history. He played for the Blue Jays in 2012 and the Indians from 2013 to 2018. He was transferred to the National team ahead of the 2019 season and won the World Series championship with Washington against the Houston Astros.
