Benjamin McKenzie Schenkkan is an American actor, writer and director. His first lead roles began in 2003, with Ryan Atwood in the TV series The O.C. and then the role of Ben Sherman in Southland. From 2014 to 2019, he played the role of James Gordon in the Gotham television series, of which he also wrote and directed episodes. McKenzie's first leading role in the feature film was in Dalton Trumbo's film adaptation of Johnny Got His Gun in 2008. He also appeared in the Junebug and 88 Minutes films, and voiced Batman in Batman: Year One. In January 2020, McKenzie made her Broadway debut in the play Bess Wohl Grand Horizons.
