He is known for his television work for his roles as Simon Escher in Burn Notice, Burt Chance in the Fox sitcom Raising Hope, for which he was nominated for the Critic's Choice Television Award. for Best Actor in a 2012 comedy Walker in the sixth installment of Justified, Jack McCall and Francis Wolcott in Deadwood, Matthew Ross in The 4400, a terminator named Cromartie in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Steve Curtis in the ER, Dr. Jody Kimball-Kinney in The Mindy Project and John Dorie in Fear the Walking Dead. In the film, Dillahunt starred in No Country for Old Men, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Cowardly Robert Ford, Winter's Bone, Looper, and 12 Years a Slave. He also starred in the TV series The Hand of God by Amazon Studios.
